The program in detail:

Our new program in 2020 takes us to Rwanda, one of the African countries most affected by an ethnic genocide that has wreaked havoc, with a heavy legacy especially for the younger generations. Since the genocide in the late 1990s, the country has seen the creation of many reception centers for orphaned or vulnerable children.

We have therefore chosen to partner with the YOMADO Foundation for an activity entitled "Rays of hope for Orphans and Vulnerable Children of Rwanda" since this year. Solibad has funded a program to the tune of €4,000, which will benefit around a hundred children in great precariousness for the moment, in the regions of Bugeresi, Nyamata, Rilima and Rweru.

The children, aged 6 to 17, were met by volunteers from our partner association, to assess their living conditions and their motivations for being part of this aid program, which consists of paying for their health insurance – so that they have access to the country's health centers – but also setting up a regular badminton activity with professional supervisors. Our goal is to promote sport and activity for these children, but also to share with them the values of sport and to help them acquire various skills that can be useful to them in their daily lives.

Equipment (T-shirts, rackets, etc.) was also distributed this summer for the start of the program.

Program News - August 2022:

On August 1st, the Solibad Badminton Challenge took place, a competition that welcomed three badminton clubs and many players. During this day, participants were able to compete in men's doubles and women's singles, with the winners of each table receiving money and rackets as rewards.

The help provided by Solibad helped cover the transportation and lunch costs of all the participants and organizers of this wonderful day. In addition, each team was offered money as a reward.

Significant funds have been released to enable the YAMADO Foundation to begin construction of a Child Friendly Centre, which will be operational very soon in 2026.
In addition, land has been purchased with the participation of Solibad for the construction of a second children's centre.
A meal was organised with 17 participants to discuss topics such as child protection, the role of sport and more specifically badminton, and the well-being of children in need.
The number of children helped by this programme stands at 100.
