The program in details :
Founded in 2010 by a woman pastor and taken over by her son, Pastor Matthews, and his wife Mayar, it welcomes around 40 children between the ages of 3 and 17, all of whom attend school.
Until 2019, the majority of the orphanage's financial resources came from Pastor Matthews' income, proceeds from recycling work he did himself, and donations from private individuals (often the couple's relatives and neighbors)... Due to bureaucracy, the orphanage has not yet received the license that would allow it to receive government aid.
SOLIBAD's action therefore consists of helping the orphanage to meet its daily needs while waiting for the state license to be obtained, as well as working to set up projects to create objects and products related to badminton, to ensure that some of the children leave the orphanage with training and access to trades.
Our Russian Ambassador Anastasia Russkikh and many others had the opportunity to play and chat with the children at the orphanage. Koo Kien Keat, men's doubles player of the Malaysian team and SOLIBAD ambassador, supports this project and personally visited the orphanage in 2010 to raise funds.
SOLIBAD's support will continue until government funding is secured.
From 2010 to date, Solibad has helped the orphanage with daily needs (food, clothing, etc.) and schooling.
Sadly, Pastor Matthews passed away in 2019, and the recycling activities have slowed down considerably since his death. Sister Malar, his wife, continues to run the orphanage as best she can, thanks to donations from the nearby community. The pandemic in 2020 hasn't made things any easier either, and Solibad will try to continue funding some of the vital needs as much as possible in the coming months.
Program News - September 2022
The activities of the program we support in Malaysia have returned to normal since the fire that destroyed part of the orphanage. In fact, the kitchens have been renovated thanks to the help of the religious community, as well as 3,000 euros in emergency aid sent by Solibad.
An activity room was also built, where the 55 children who live in the orphanage can now eat, do their homework and play together. The three dormitories were also repainted by the children with colorful lockers.
On September 4, our President, Raphael, visited the orphanage to see the progress of the program and to speak with the children. We're happy to announce that some of them, girls, have graduated and are now at university!
